
Board meeting came to order about 11:10 am, and Bruce Dunn conducted this meeting.
Club discussion topics were built into an agenda.
Paul Carletta provided status of the treasury with a balance of $1,095.11 which includes $175 earmarked as 'Special' fund. Paul suggested that this special fund be dropped, since it is all part of the total balance.
Paul also provided status of the 2011 non-paid-up members.
Hank will send out e-mails to remind these people.
Hank Kingston provided copies of some proposed minor changes to the RAHW Constitution. These will be sent out to all board members.
Club meeting came to order about 12:05 pm.
Bruce Dunn welcomed everyone, and read the names of the new club members: Jan Klapetzky, Larry Lavery, Stephen and Terri Mandato, and Joe Rossi.
There were 35 members in attendance with one new guest, John Keary.
The 50/50 Raffle (totally $100) was won by Ingrid Banach.
Jill Misterka spoke of needing new articles for the newsletter, and that it was written using Microsoft Word 2010. Jill and Tom Banach spoke of a newsletter meeting coming up in November, and invited anyone to join in.
Tim Fitch reported that the awards from the NY State Fair were posted on the web site; also there are reviews of books, wine information, classified ads, and members’ contact info.
Terry Chrzan reported on the August NY State Home Winemaker's seminar, stating that the presenters were excellent and there was wine sampling. He gave a update on their web site, mentioned that Jill Misterka was a presenter, and that the 2012 NYS seminar will be on the second Saturday in August again.
Paul Carletta mentioned there were a few outstanding dues, and that RAHW club hats were available.
Tom Banach gave congratulations to Erick & Katie Anderson, who were recently married.
Also, congratulations were given to Larry Kilbury for his 'Best of Show' award.
Tom reported on the upcoming November 11th National AWS Showcase meeting in Rochester. He asked if people were interested in presenting their wines at this show, and that there should be 6-8 people serving. Please contact Tom Banach for details.
David Gerling reported that Wine Fault kits are in the range of $150, and asked should the club purchase a kit for use within the club. The total cost of buying both kits is less than $300. David had discussed these at a previous meeting and had also send an email with links to detailed info about the kits. Jill Misterka moved to buy the kits. Ken Pearce seconded the motion. A show of hands determined that all members present were in favor.
Tom Banach opened a discussion on where to do the next club wine, and which wine to do. It was agreed to do Traminette this fall, but the location is TBD.
Ken Pearce reported that Jan Klapetzky of Young Sommer Winery will be conducting wine making classes on Monday evenings, October 3rd, 10th, & 17th, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The subjects are wine basics, chemistry, and hands on. Contact Jan Klapetzky or Ken Pearce for details.
