
The 2011 Western New York Amateur Wine Makers’ Contest was held at the Niagara County Fair on August 6 and was open to all New York State residents. Three club members received ribbons and two Best of Category designations!
Tom Banach won a Red ribbon for his 2010 Blueberry and a White ribbon for his 2010 DeChaunac, and Best of Category Hybrid or Native Grape for his 2010 Traminette.
Tim Gregory won Red ribbons for his 2010 Cab/Merlot and his 2010 Merlot, and Best of Category Vinifera for his 2010 Riesling.
Greg Cutt won several ribbons also: a Blue ribbon for his 2010 Traminette, a Red for his 2010 Traminett/Seyval blend, and a Red for his 2010 Seyval.
For their Best of Category showings, Tom and Tim each received 75 lbs. of Merlot Grapes from Freedom Run Winery’s 2011 harvest.
